“A Marriage Proposal” is an interesting and entertaining one-act play written by a famous dramatist and story-writer of Russia, Anton Chekhov. In this play, the three characters are Chubukov, Natalia and Lomov. They all are neighbours. They are bosom friends by relation. Lomov and Natalia.
So, Lomov wants to marry Choobookov’s daughter but he does not dare to put the proposal of marriage-ceremony before Natalia. Natalia’s father, Choobookov also wants his daughter to marry Lomov but he does not find a way to make his daughter agree with this proposal. One day Lomov comes to the house of his friend Choobookov and tells everything about the marriage of Natalia and him.
Chubukov becomes very happy to know about this marriage proposal. By Chance, the daughter of his friend, Natalia also comes there. Soon Natalia and Lomov start quarrelling over the superiority of their dogs-leap and guess and a piece of land belonging to Lomov. Having heard the shout, Chubukov becomes a friend and pretends to be dying and appeals to Lomov and Natalia to accept the marriage proposal.
At last, Natalia accepts the feeling of her dying father and puts the marriage proposal before Lomov and he also accepts it immediately. In this way, their hot celebration turns into a cool marriage. Then, Natalia’s father Choobookov comes to his senses and becomes happy that my daughter is going to marry a rich man and with my friend Lomov.
